Church, faith and religion isn't about money, but it is a necessary part of keeping the doors open, funding community projects and keeping these historic and beautiful buildings in a useful state. Fundraising is vital, and donating needs to be easy. In an age where physical cash is less prevalent than ever, contactless card donations are increasingly important.
We've developed this handy little tool to help you calculate the revenue that could be generated from having a Contactless Giving terminal connected by Litenet's internet and WiFi.
Simply adjust the values in section 1 to your expected average estimates for an event such as a wedding, christening or funeral.
For example you might have two weddings a month with an average attendance of 90 people. Of those 90 people you might expect 60% of them to make a donation. If your contactless giving terminal is set at a default of £5 you can expect a monthly take of £540.
Section 2 looks at how quickly you can expect a return on your investment, assuming that the setup is not covered by grants or donations. Adjust the values to your estimated costs and the calculator will show you how quickly a new internet connection and WiFi system can pay for itself!

What donation terminals are available?
There are several companies that have donation terminals designed specifically for churches. These systems are "always on", secure and easy to use. The biggest risk to donations is always difficulty. If something is difficult or too time consuming, then people just won't bother.
Don't forget to factor in the cost of your contactless donation terminals. Whilst Litenet don't supply them, we have seen many different brands and types in use on our networks.
It's important to remember that the payment processing will likely take a percentage of the transactions going through the terminal, so be prepared for that. In our experience it's usually very low and insignificant compared to the extra revenue they generate.
